Coaching Philosophy
When trying to achieve our athletic goals, our training is often undermined by the belief that we can't actually achieve those goals. The same is true for seasoned athletes and beginners alike, we convince ourselves that our dreams are unrealistic or we simply aren't talented enough to achieve them.
Every athlete we've worked with has a different goal; some want to compete at the National or International level while others need the confidence to try a new distance or swim competitively in the open water. Many of the athletes DBT has worked with have never competed in a triathlon or marathon and simply want to complete one. Whatever your dream is, we can equip you with the physical and mental skills you need in order to make it happen.
Sports Performance & Athletic Goals:
As an athlete, we know what it feels like to cross the finish line and celebrate the feelings of strength, courage, self discipline, hard work, pride, and most of all self satisfaction. As coaches, we experience those same feelings watching the athletes we work with achieve their dreams. Our priority is listening to the athlete and helping them achieve their goals. With strong exercise science backgrounds and many years competing on a professional and international level, we have the experience to help you develop your skills, improve your endurance and performance goals, and help you reach your next level of athletic success. We believe developing a training plan specific to the individual, and taking into consideration their past experience, lifestyle and willingness to achieve their goals. We strongly believe in the power of the mind and can help you develop your mental skills along with your physical skills.
Weight Loss Goals:
Many athletes approach us with a desire to lose weight. Our experience has been that finding an alternate goal (an achievable, measurable and sustainable goal) to work towards yields the greatest results. For you, this may be completing a local 5k run or finishing your first Ironman. Focusing on the goal (rather than a number on the scale) will allow you to channel your energy towards something that increases your self-confidence, energizes you and inspires those around you to do the same. We will work together to make the right choices in nutrition and training, and along the way you will achieve a natural, healthy weight.
